The cold temperatures outside were quickly forgotten when the 2017 American Grown Field to Vase Dinner Tour launched last weekend inside the greenhouses at Len Busch Roses in Plymouth, Minnesota.
The dynamic duo of flower farmer Patrick Busch of Len Busch Roses and featured floral designer Sandy Schroeck of Trend On Design challenged themselves by striving to host the “Best Dinner in F2V History.”.
Busch welcomed F2V guests into the greenhouses at Len Busch Roses to experience the peak of springtime while it was still winter-like outside in the Midwest.
Setting the bar for coming dinners, many “firsts” were introduced, like the start of an intimate 90-minute VIP Farm Tour lead by Busch. This exclusive experience for F2V guests took place prior to the start of the dinner. Each event this year will offer guests the same opportunity that you can include when you save your seats at one of our future dinners. VIP Farm Tour guests experienced Len Busch Roses’ 15-acre flower farm and greenhouses and learned first-hand from the farmer about the history of this beautiful Minnesota farm.
F2V guests arrived through the doors of Len Busch Roses’ customer store and quickly checked in while enhancing their wardrobe ensembles with beautiful one-of-a-kind floral art. Every guest had the choice of sporting beautiful custom floral boutonnieres or breathtaking flower crowns made of gorgeous ferns and blooms.
The tabletops were filled with towering floral arrangements created from Certified American Grown Flowers designed by Minnesota floral designer Sandy Schroeck. With everything from floral installations and ombre tablecloths to twinkling farm lights, the ambiance for this event couldn’t have been more fabulous!
During the reception, F2V guests enjoyed a local folk band and mingled with one another over outstanding beer provided by Omni Brewing and delectable wines provided by Stargazer Barn. Farm host Patrick Busch charmed his guests with a moving presentation in which he introduced Len Busch Roses’ founder, his father, Len Busch. Sandy Schroeck captivated guests with a DIY floral arrangement demonstration.
Our featured F2V chef, Rob Lang of Common Roots Catering, delighted the taste buds of guests with a menu showcasing Minnesota’s best. Appetizers included asparagus tartlets and lamb polpettes. Before the main course, guests enjoyed a butter lettuce salad with roasted grapes, crispy shallots, creamy tarragon dressing and parmesan croutons. Next, guests had the choice of three dinner options including slow-roasted braised beef, balsamic and brown-sugar glazed pork loin or a rustic mushroom tart. All dishes were served with buttered baby red potatoes and herb-roasted seasonal vegetables. The meal concluded with a delectable choice of a fresh fruit tart, chocolate cake with caramel drizzle or challah bread pudding.
Cheers to a great night at Len Busch Roses! Guests left the evening with memories to share, F2V swag bag goodies and arms full of fresh Certified American Grown flowers courtesy of Len Busch Roses. As a special treat, each and every F2V guests had the opportunity to take home their very own centerpiece straight from the dinner table.
Guests have been raving about this dinner stop. Here are just a few of some of our favorite F2V guest testimonials we have received so far!
“It was first class and beautifully personalized – from the corsages to the table markers, great food, good conversation, exquisite setting, etc. What a great experience and we felt like royalty with such outstanding service and attention, in such a beautiful locale. And we certainly didn’t expect the kind of SWAG we went home with – flowers EVERYWHERE now and our home smells so wonderful, even as we had snow falling yesterday.” ~ Julie K.
“Just beautiful. Small, intimate! Generous gifts. Such fresh flowers.” ~ Myra H.
“If you are a gardener, photographer, or just a person who appreciates the beauty of flowers, this event is pure magic. The greenhouse tour was informative and the benches of flowers in bloom were visually stunning. I have never felt so welcome at an event. The libations were generous and the food delicious, but my favorite part of all was the gorgeous flowers to take home. It was truly a memorable evening that I will long remember.” ~ Susan D.
As we pack our bags for our next destination, we welcome you to join us! Be a part of the dinner-table conversation when we visit Gallup & Stribling Orchids in Carpinteria, California, on Thursday, March 30. See you there!
