What a wonderful way to end a beautiful 2016 dinner season! The Field to Vase Dinner Tour visited Holland America Flowers in Woodland, WA for a sold-out night full of blooming celebration. Hosted by owner, president and CEO of Holland America Flowers, Benno Dobbe, more than 125 F2V guests were welcomed to experience the beauty of the farm and learn how the Dobbe’s have grown their farm to become one of the largest cut flower farms in the United States.

A greenhouse on the farm was transformed into a beautifully decorated dining hall with breathtaking arrangements designed by Portland eco-florist Hilary Holmes of Emerald Petals, who shined throughout the night as the featured F2V florist.

During the reception, F2V guests mingled and befriended one another over a delicious signature Tulip Burnside Bourbon Cocktail and enjoyed featured wine provided by Confluence Winery. The F2V-favorite D.I.Y. Boutonniere Bar made its grand appearance once again, offering guests a chance to get creative and add a little fun floral to their dinner wardrobes. A short video presentation was shared by Benno, which offered great insight on his farm and how his American dream became a reality with Holland America Flowers.

Our featured F2V chef Michael Borges of Mill Creek Pub captivated the taste buds of guests with a menu beautifully crafted by owner Russell Brent. Appetizers included a medley of crostini bursting in delicious flavors. Rosemary balsamic marinated lamb pops were served family-style along with plated salads of peppery arugula, golden organic beets, Yakima pears and candied walnuts with goat cheese. Prime rib with rosemary au jus and peppercorn horseradish cream soon followed as the entrée and was accompanied by a medley of local oven-roasted root vegetables. The meal concluded with a perfected Syrah-poached pear drizzled with chocolate ganache.

By the end of the night, the Certified American Grown program proudly presented Benno with a donation of $1,260 to a special non-profit in his community that he passionate supports.  A leader in his community, Benno has been helping to spearhead the effort to build a swimming pool for the YMCA in Woodland.  This is a wonderful story and example of how America’s flower farmers contribute far more than economic impact.

Guests left the evening with gorgeous pink and yellow tulips, courtesy of Holland America Flowers, and the popular Field to Vase swag bag was full of goodies every floral enthusiast could appreciate.
